Is your website secure?

Is your website secure? It could be affecting your Google ranking

15 Sep, 2017

As of October 2017, search engines such as Google will begin to rollout a series of security provisions in order to make the web “a safer place”. These updates will impact all websites, and there are actions required to ensure your site meets the new security standards. Failure to do so could result in penalties to your website, ranging from a severe drop in your search engine rankings and in extreme cases – being blacklisted by search engines. These updates will also impact the performance of any paid advertising, such as Google AdWords.

Now, any website that is on an outdated platform or does not have a valid SSL certificate (regardless of whether the site is eCommerce or not) is subject to these new security penalties. Any text field on a website (search bars, contact forms etc) are now subject to stricter security requirements to avoid any type of personal or identifiable data being exposed to hackers or viruses.

Whilst this certificate is not mandatory, IMA do highly recommend considering this option.

Pegboard Version Upgrade

For IMA clients on a Pegboard CMS, upgrading to the latest version of the Pegboard platform will ensure your site is compliant with the latest web security requirements for search engines.

This upgrade will require a complete backup and migration of your site over to the updated platform. Depending on the size of your website, this process can take anywhere between 2-4 hours and will impact the accessibility of your site for approximately 2 hours.  IMA is able to facilitate these updates to take place outside of business hours to help minimise live site disruption if that is your preference.

Please contact the Digital Team at IMA to discuss and arrange these updates: digital@imab2b.com
